Research shows almost 50% of foster families quit within the first year.
The two most common reasons:

1. Lack of support.
When parents don't feel supported, they can't support the children in their homes.
2. Lack of training.
Families get overwhelmed and feel like they are not equipped to deal with the challenges they face, especially when older children are placed in the home.

As fellow foster/adoptive parents, the FAPA of NKY team understands these challenges.
We work to build a strong community of support for our foster/adoptive families by hosting events that allow them to meet and build relationships with others on the same journey. This allows parents to form friendships, bonds, and connect with others who may offer help, support, and respite services. It also allows the children in our homes to connect with other children who are in out of home care or who have been adopted from out of home care.

Our FAPA of NKY team also works for Western Kentucky University's Kentucky Foster & Adoptive Training Support Network. We offer monthly ongoing training classes for foster parents on a variety of relevant topics.
Our meetings are in person and offer free childcare.
Our team also offers 24/7 support.
