Our Mission:
To strengthen foster and adoptive families by building a supportive community through fellowship, recreation, meaningful connections, and programs that honor every child's culture, identity, and unique needs. In partnership with Kentucky DCBS and our local communities, we recruit, retain, and empower foster and adoptive families, ensuring no family has to navigate the journey alone.

A healthy support system is vital to all families , especially those in need of extra love and support like foster families. Fostering takes a village, and compassion and generosity makes an enormous impact on the lives of those served.
Finding, building and maintaining your support network is essential for creating a strong foundation as a foster parent.

Research shows almost 50% of foster families quit within the first year.
The two most common reasons:

1. Lack of support.
When parents don't feel supported, they can't support the children in their homes.
2. Lack of training.
Families get overwhelmed and feel like they are not equipped to deal with the challenges they face, especially when older children are placed in the home.

As fellow foster/adoptive parents, the FAPA of NKY team understands these challenges.
We work to build a strong community of support for our foster/adoptive families by hosting events that allow them to meet and build relationships with others on the same journey. This allows parents to form friendships, bonds, and connect with others who may offer help, support, and respite services. It also allows the children in our homes to connect with other children who are in out of home care or who have been adopted from out of home care.
